Anniversary

Today is my parents wedding anniversary. They have been married 67 years and have known each other for 71 years. This is amazing to know someone for that many years.
My Dad is in a longterm home. My Mom is still living in the house my Dad built in the 1950’s. She turned 89 this year and my Dad just celebrated his 88th birthday.
This is a milestone. Not too many people live to celebrate this many years together.
Congratulations Mom and Dad. I love you with all my heart.
This is a snippet of a speech I gave at their 60th anniversary.
From the time I was a little girl to the present, our family has always celebrated Mom and Dad’s anniversaries. We ordered different cakes every year, sometimes forgetting what year we were celebrating. I have watched their love grow stronger and deeper as time goes by with many happy times and sad times. Now with having a family of my own, I realize what parenting is all about. Having each other to confide in and always being there for each other as best friends and loving partners. Now with 7 grandchildren and 3 great grand children, the family continues to grow.
Happy Anniversary,
Your daughter,
Leslie
