Left Handed Knitting -Continental

Today I had a learning to knit lesson. My client wanted to learn left handed knitting. I have never learned Continental knitting. I am a South Paw or left handed person. I was taught in grade school how to write with both hands, left and right. I am ambidextrous, but not in knitting.
My Grandfather and Mother taught me how to knit right handed. I’m set in my ways. I find left handed knitting foreign. Kack handed as my husband would say.
I did teach my client how to knit right handed or English style. She didn’t seem comfortable at first but then she caught on. She went home to practice casting on.
I just may go home and practice Continental or left handed knitting, for my next client who is a South Paw.
Happy Knitting!

Craftsy.com has a great continental knitting class, Leslie, that’ll help you perfect your skills.

I tried the continental, but I found I was faster with Protuguese knitting. Craftsy has a great tutorial on both.

I am a lefty and not ambidextrous at all. I had to learn to knit right handed from my grandmother and can’t imagine knitting left handed now. I heard if you sit across from someone they can copy you with their left hand b

      Hi Denise,
I did try mirror image , but I found it quite difficult. So I taught her right handed.

      Thanks,
      Leslie
