Happy Birthday to my Mom who turns 89 today. I went to see my Dad last night in the hospital and he remembers when Mom turned 18. They started dating when they were 17. My Mom had her diamond when she was 18 and worked in the GM office for two years before they got married. Back then you weren’t allowed to work if you were married. This year they will be married 67 years in May.

My Grandfather, Mom’s Dad, taught me how to knit. He knit socks for his son who was in the war. Then when my grandfather passed Mom continued to teach me. I was fascinated with her knitting. She would fix all my mistakes. I have continued to knit . My parents neighbour taught me how to crochet. My sister and I would sit with her during her afternoons. She would teach us how to crochet bun warmers while she watched her soaps on television.

So now I enjoy both knitting and crocheting.

Happy Days Ahead
